COBB Tuning is happy to announce the return of the COBB Tuning Double Adjustable Shifter for the Mitsubishi EVO X GSR. COBB Tuning short shifters are made of light-weight, high-quality aluminum and zinc-coated steel and will greatly improve shifting feel while reducing shifter throw for more precise shifting.
A shorter shifter does not have to mean losing shifter height! COBB Tuning short-throw shifters are double-adjustable for both shifter throw and shifter height. Most short throw shifters also shorten the shift lever height, resulting in a longer reach to the shifter. But with COBB’s exclusive double-adjustable shifter, you can shorten the shifter throw while maintaining your shift lever at the stock height for faster shifting, without the extra reach!
The COBB Tuning Double Adjustable shift lever clamp is constructed of a billet, blue-anodized 6061 T6 Aluminum with COBB Tuning engraving while the upper and lower levers and ball joint are manufactured from black zinc-coated steel for maximum strength and longevity. All hardware required for installation is included as well as allen-keys for adjusting your shifter.
The COBB Tuning double adjustable short shifter is available for all USDM and International 2008-2011 EVO X GSR vehicles. All COBB Tuning short throw shifter kits are compatible with COBB Knobs.

Posted by Travis on 15 Jul 2011 | Tagged as: AccessTUNER Race, EVO X, Mitsubishi, Product Updates, Ralliart

A new BETA version of AccessTUNER is available for all supported Mitsubishi EVO X and Ralliart models including 2011 EVO X and Ralliart. This beta release is available for early adopters who wish to test and evaluate AccessTUNER functionality on their 2008-2011 USDM EVO X or Ralliart and test new AccessTUNER features detailed below.
2011 EVO X and Ralliart Support
AccessTUNER Race and Pro now support all USDM models of EVO X and Ralliart including the new 2011 models. This support is only available as a BETA update. Detailed instructions for obtaining and updating your new or current copy of AccessTUNER are available below.
Improved Table Layout
AccessTUNER Race has been completely reworked to make tuning the EVOX and Ralliart easier and more intuitive than ever before. With faster logging, more intuitive menus and table layouts, this latest version of AccessTUNER will make experienced and novice EVO tuners feel right at home.
Additional CEL and DTC Defeats
The number of DTC toggles has been increased allowing users to customize their tune for a large number of modifications and variables that would otherwise trigger trouble codes. These are easily accessed through the DTC toggle screen. See the tuning guide for more information by pressing “F1” on your keyboard.
Faster Data Logging Speeds
COBB Tuning has integrated higher speed Mode 23 data logging into AccessTUNER as well the AccessPORT. Increasing data logging speed provides more data over a given period of time, increasing the resolution of the data. This additional data gives tuners and enthusiasts a clearer understanding of their engine’s performance and giving them more information to base tuning changes on.
3D Graphing Enhancements
Both solid and wire 3D graphing styles have been improved. Solid 3D graphing is enhanced with a grid overlay and more intuitive color gradient. Wire 3D graphing is improved with finer wire drawing and higher contrast colors that are easier to view.
USDM-only Support
The AccessPORT and AccessTUNER only supports USDM models with this update. International Support has been temporarily removed from all versions of AccessPORT and AccessTUNER. Further developement and table discovery is required to add international support to this new version of AccessTUNER due to fundamental changes in the program architecture. If you are currently using the AccessPORT on your international or world-market EVO X, please refrain from using this update as it will remove functionality.
These new features are only available with the new BETA version of AccessTUNER. If you already have AccessTUNER, simply update to the latest BETA version by going to the “Help” Screen, selecting the “Check for BETA version” and then selecting the “Update” option. AccessTUNER can also be downloaded for free by filling out the online AccessTUNER Race Request Form.

This data logging improvement is applicable to all 2008-2011 EVO X and 2009-2011 Ralliart vehicles.
How to Update Firmware
AccessPORT firmware is managed by AccessPORT Manager software, which can be downloaded Support Page. Simply open the AccessPORT Manager application and connect your AccessPORT to your computer via the supplied USB cable. Once AccessPORT Manager sees that the AccessPORT is connected, navigate to the “Options” menu and then select “Check for BETA Firmware”. Introducing the XLE Bypass Valve for the Mitsubishi EVO X and Lancer Ralliart from COBB Tuning! This high-quality, multi-configuration Bypass Valve not only features industry-leading technology but will dramatically increase the visual impact of your engine bay! The XLE BPV can be configured for full recirculation mode, 50/50 vent to intake/atmosphere or full vent to atmosphere.*
The COBB XLE BPV is a compact and lightweight bypass valve capable of holding very high boost pressure without leaking. Its unique design allows extremely fast venting of boost when actuated. It is designed to operate in multiple venting modes and can be quickly reconfigured using simple hand tools. Innovative engineering and precision manufacturing result in a compact package able to fit in the confines of a tight engine bay.
FEATURES

Piston
Preload Adjuster and Spring
Operation
OPERATING MODES
Full Recirculation - Outlet is plumbed back into the intake tract pre-turbo. This configuration provides the best drivability with stock based MAF systems. This configuration generates the least amount of noise.
Hybrid Mode - Outlet is plumbed back into the intake tract pre-turbo and the auxiliary port cover is removed. When the piston is more than 30% open, the auxiliary port is open, audibly venting to atmosphere. Less than 30% open results in full recirculation to improve drivability.
Full Atmosphere - Outlet and auxiliary port are open to atmosphere. Recommended only for MAP based air metering. This configuration generates the highest sound levels.
ADJUSTMENT
Spring Preload – Spring preload determines the pressure differential across the BPV piston required before the BPV opens and releases the pressurized intake charge. The COBB XLE BPV can be adjusted by loosening the locknut and turning the allen-head shaft clockwise for more preload or counter-clockwise for less preload. Once preload is set, the locknut is retightened and ensures the adjustment is secure.
MOTORSPORTS
Race proven technology for your Mitsubishi. The 800 all wheel horsepower COBB Tuning Motorsports Time Attack R35 GT-R has utilized the COBB XLE BPV to dominate the 2010 Redline Time Attack AWD Modified class as well as smash several track records across the United States. This rigorous testing environment has proven XLE BPV’s elegant design and attention to detail are only surpassed by its dependability and superior performance.
*Full atmospheric mode is only recommended for MAP-based cars with stand-alone ECUs.

Add power, responsiveness and great looks to your EVO X GSR, MR or MRT with the newly revised COBB EVO X Intercooler Hard-Pipe Kit. This kit replaces all of the flaccid stock rubber hoses with rock hard aluminum piping that gets you to full boost faster and keeps you there. The stock rubber boost hoses flex and expand as you lay into the throttle, increasing the time it takes to get to full boost. The larger diameter aluminum pipes in this kit eliminate flex and improve flow, improving responsiveness and power production.
The COBB EVO X Intercooler Hard-Pipe kit is a complete kit that replaces the stock upper and lower intercooler hoses as well as the bypass valve hose with mandrel-bent, single-piece non-welded aluminum pipes. These single piece pipes eliminate the need for unsightly mid-pipe hose couplers, have smooth interiors unblemished by welds for ultimate flow and look great. The unique COBB logo bridge secures the upper-pipe to the bypass valve pipe with removable fasteners and make a striking statement in your engine bay. The kit comes in Gunmetal Gray or Stealth Black powder-coat finishes with COBB Blue silicone hose couplers that give your engine bay that high-performance look with a durable, scratch-resistant finish!
Add the COBB EVO X Turbo Inlet Hose and SF Intake for the complete COBB Tuning intake package. Add power, reliability and style to your EVO X with COBB Tuning intake components. Download COBB AccessPORT Off-the-Shelf calibrations from our EVO X AccessPORT Map Database to perfectly compliment all COBB Tuning performance components!

All current AccessPORT part numbers (SUB-001, SUB-002 and SUB-003, MAZ-002, MIT-002, NIS-005) can now be updated to address the “Hot AccessPORT” issue currently present on existing firmware versions. The previous firmware may not always run properly when high ambient temperatures are encountered. AccessPORTs that suddenly stall or have a constant blank or gray screen will need to update to this latest firmware version. This update should be performed immediately. Any AccessPORTs currently in an unusable state will need to be sent in for a factory update.
To update to the latest firmware, please download AccessPORT Updater (Windows) (Mac OS) and follow the on-screen instructions. Further information can be found in the firmware release notes:

With September nearly upon us, The COBB Tuning Motorsports Team is preparing for the final three races of the Redline Time Attack Season. With the conclusion of the East Coast Championship, the COBB Team will be concentrating on securing the championship in both the Street and Modified AWD classes in the COBB Tuning Motorsports Subaru STI and Nissan GT-R.
The COBB Tuning Motorsports STI has run a very impressive season finishing on the podium at every single event and twice in first place in class! Driver Cameron Benner has shown that his aggressive driving style, coupled with the tuning power of the AccessPORT wins races. The combination of a Cosworth engine tuned with the COBB Tuning AccessPORT has proven to be a winning formula by finishing every single event on the podium. Thanks to the crew at COBB Tuning Surgeline, the car is a shining example of what a properly-prepared Subaru can achieve in the hands of a talented driver backed by a dedicated team.
“This season of Redline has been about development for both the car and myself,” said STI driver Cameron Benner. “We started at Buttonwillow with our first podium in 3rd place, and since then have continued development on the STI platform. The car has been wonderful to drive and continues to get better with every event. I’ve really focused with my car chief on dialing the suspension setup to optimize the chassis for the amount of power the AccessPORT enables the car to put down. We’ve got some new cooling upgrades in store for Pahrump and will be pursuing another win to further secure the Street Tire overall championship.”

Cameron leads the AWD Street Tire Class with 162 points; 46 points ahead of 2nd place, Steve Ruiz, in the AEM stand alone-tuned EVO X and 55 points ahead of 3rd place Jon Drenas in his AccessPORT-tuned EVO X.
The COBB Tuning Motorsports GT-R driven by Brian Lock has had a very successful, if not a bit of a challenging season, with the team pushing the envelope of performance in the highly competitive Modified Class. Being one of the first teams ever to race this exotic monster, the COBB Tuning Motorsports Team has discovered a few weak points in Godzilla’s scales leading to not a few late nights both at and away from the race track. Those late nights have produced incredible results with the GT-R taking the podium and the overall class-win at every event it has finished in the AWD Modified Class, as well as a series first of two overall event wins by a Modified Class car. The GT-R has only DNF’d at one race this season at Round 3 in Las Vegas as the bone stock engine internals tired of putting out nearly 1,000 crank horsepower.
“This year has been extremely taxing, but rewarding. As with our GT-R racecar, our crew has been pushed to its limits time and time again only to persevere and win”, said GT-R Driver Brian Lock. “The grueling pace of a full coast to coast racing schedule along with two emergency engine rebuilds, constant chassis development to keep up with the amazing power our AccessPORT squeezes out of the engine, and lots of travel have left everyone a bit burned-out after Willow Springs. This nice break has allowed everyone to recharge their batteries and the GT-R to get some much-needed R&R. We will be back in Pahrump ready to secure our championships.”
This season, COBB Tuning sponsored the Redline Time Attack Modified Class and this has turned out to be the most closely contested class of the series. These cars walk a fine line between street and full blown racer with some cars pushing well over 700whp! The COBB Tuning Modifed Class is the battleground for big power and the winner of this class will be well deserving of the street cred and bragging rights that a victory here will bring!

The COBB Tuning Modified Class GT-R currently sits in 2nd place, just one point behind the Takata Time Attack/LIC Motorsports STI. The LIC STI is also powered by a COBB Tuning AccessPORT, tuned by our experienced calibrators at the COBB Tuning Surgeline facility, and is making just under 550whp on the stock ECU! Mike Cronin Jr is sitting third in the Fontana Nissan GT-R, also tuned with a COBB Tuning AccessPORT, making the COBB Tuning Modified Class a clean, AccessPORT-powered sweep!
These next three events will be crucial for the team as they push to continue their winning ways and prove to the world that COBB Tuning has what it takes to not only best the nation’s top AWD vehicles, but also take the overall Redline Time Attack Championship!
For the East Coast Championship, both the COBB Tuning Motorsports GT-R and STI finished third in their respective classes despite not running at the final race at Sebring in Florida. While the COBB Tuning Motorsports team made a strong showing in the East Coast Championship, the team decided to concentrate on the West Coast series and focus efforts closer to home.
The next event will take place September 18th-19th at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, NV. This event could be the deciding race in the championship!
