COBB Tuning is proud to announce the availability of our Subaru External Wastegate Uppipe Kit with TiAL MV-R 44mm Wastegate. The COBB Tuning External Wastegate Uppipe Kit replaces the stock restrictive uppipe and allows an external wastegate to control turbine-bypass-gasses instead of the restrictive internal wastegate that is integrated into the turbo housing. The stock internal wastegate can easily be overwhelmed as power levels rise, which can lead to uncontrollable boost creep. COBB Tuning offers a complete solution for this issue with the release of the new COBB External Wastegate Uppipe Kit coupled with TiAL’s MV-R 44mm Wastegate and optional products such as the innovative COBB Adjustable Internal Wastegate Bracket, the COBB 3-Port Boost Control Solenoid and the COBB Boost Control Solenoid Fitting Upgrade Kit also available from COBB Tuning. This kit fits all latemodel turbocharged Subaru vehicles, except the 2010+ Legacy GT.

The COBB External Wastegate Uppipe Kit is a bolt-in replacement for the stock restrictive uppipe. The uppipe itself is constructed of 2-inch diameter heavy-duty 14-gauge stainless steel with smooth CNC mandrel bends and finished with substantial half-inch thick 304 stainless steel flanges. Precise CNC mandrel bending allows tight tolerances to be met during production, ensuring proper fitment without the need for a flex section, which is a common point of failure in aftermarket uppipes.

The internal dimension of the uppipe is 1.86-inches and perfectly matches the ID of the header gasket for optimal exhaust flow. The dump-tube is constructed of 2-inch 16-gauge stainless steel with smooth CNC mandrel bends. Both the uppipe and the dump-tube use precision stainless steel v-band flanges and v-band clamps to securely fasten them to the TiAL wastegate. All flanges are meticulously TIG welded and the turbo flange includes pre-installed studs.

COBB Tuning chose wastegate-industry-leading TiAL as the wastegate supplier for this kit. TiAL’s wastegates are trusted by the biggest names in the racing industry. The TiAL MV-R 44mm Wastegate used in this kit utilizes a high-temp NiCrFe based alloy for the valve, Nitronic 60 stainless steel for the valve seat and valve bushing, and 347 stainless steel for the valve housing, offering long life despite exposure to extremely high temperatures. The wastegate is pre-sprung to 0.9bar, and can be reconfigured to support from 0.3bar to 1.5bar utilizing the seven included springs in different combinations. The MV-R includes the option of using the integrated water-cooling ports to provide additional cooling for use in road-racing applications. Stainless steel -4AN fittings for water-cooling, stainless steel barbed hose fittings for boost control and stainless steel port plugs are included to configure the wastegate for your specific use. The black anodized actuator is finished off at the TiAL factory with a COBB logo laser etched into the top.

    Right now we don’t have any plans for a 38mm version. In our testing, the 44mm version covers the widest range of turbo set ups while 38mm ones can be quickly over run.
