COBB Post MAF Hoses for Subaru

Posted by on 23 Oct 2008 | Tagged as: Announcements, Product Updates

COBB Tuning announces the availability of the COBB Post MAF Hose for the ‘02-’07 Subaru WRX and ‘04-’07 Subaru STi .  The COBB Post MAF Hose balances form AND function with its smart appearance and turbulence taming characteristics.

The COBB Post MAF Hose joins the stock airbox (or optional COBB SF Intake) to the turbo inlet tube by replacing the stock corrugated rubber piece, arguably one of the most aesthetically challenged OEM parts in the engine bay. While the sleek exterior is easy on the eyes, the slick interior is friendly to airflow, feeding a smooth column of air to the turbo.

The 4-ply silicone construction has the right compliance to bridge the chassis mounted airbox to the violent motion of a boxer engine being driven in anger, while the steel reinforcement prevents collapse when the turbo is drawing maximum vacuum at wide open throttle.

The COBB Post MAF Hose is available in Stealth Black and attention grabbing COBB Blue and is in stock now.

COBB Post MAF Hose:
• Replaces corrugated OEM tube, smoothing airflow to the turbo
• 4 ply silicone with steel reinforcement construction
• Compliance absorbs relative motion between engine and chassis
• Steel reinforcement prevents collapse under maximum demand
• Choice of Stealth Black or COBB Blue

COBB EVO X Intercooler Hard-Pipe Kit Available

COBB EVO X Intercooler Hard-Pipe Kit Gunmetal and Polished

COBB Tuning unveils its latest performance piece for the EVO X, the COBB Intercooler Hard-Pipe Kit, and it does not fail to impress. It is currently the only kit that replaces ALL intercooler pipes (including the BPV) with weld-free single-pipe aluminum tubing. This uncompromising kit has the most comprehensive list of performance enhancing features available. Add the precision fit and one-of-a-kind appearance and it is clear that the COBB Intercooler Hard-Pipe kit for the EVO X is unequaled.

evohp1.jpgAs with all intercooler hard-pipe kits, the stock rubber hoses to the intercooler are replaced with solid pipes to eliminate distortion under boost. But the devil is in the details, and that is where similarities end. The COBB EVO X Hard-Pipe Kit consists of single piece pipes made from mandrel bent aluminum tubing on both the cold side and hot side of the intercooler. The results are weld-free pipes from the turbo outlet to intercooler inlet and from the intercooler outlet to the throttle body, without unsightly mid-pipe silicone hose couplings that can disrupt flow or potentially blow off under boost. The hot and cold pipe diameters are increased from the stock 2.375” to 2.5”, enhancing flow even further.

The By-Pass-Valve (BPV) gets its own hard-pipe from the cold side of the intercooler, maintaining the factory location and orientation. Maintaining this connection from the cold side ensures that cool air is fed back to the intake system when the valve is in bypass mode, preventing overheating of the air charge post turbo. The BPV is located using a visually stunning COBB logo bridge that connects the BPV hard-pipe to the hot side hard-pipe.

The COBB EVO X Hard-Pipe kit is one of the very few that will fit with the factory air box in place (or the optional COBB SF Intake) as well as the stock front engine cover. The kit is completed with high quality COBB silicone hose couplings and heavy duty T-Bolt hose clamps to eliminate those embarrassing hose blow-offs than can occur when demanding the most from your EVO X.

The kit is available in Gunmetal powder coat or can be special ordered in high polished aluminum finish. Painstaking effort goes in to the fabrication, handling and packaging of our high polish kit, ensuring the parts arrive with a beautiful unblemished finish.

EVO X Intercooler Hard-Pipe Features:
• IC pipes are one piece, weld-free mandrel bent aluminum tubing increased to 2.5”
• Minimal hose couplings for clean appearance and reduced blow-off potential
• OEM BPV location and orientation maintained with BPV hard-pipe
• Eye-catching COBB logo hard-pipe bridge
• Fits with OEM airbox or optional COBB SF Intake
• Fits with OEM engine cover
• COBB silicone hose couplings
• Heavy duty T-Bolt hose clamps
• Gunmetal powder coat or high polish aluminum

COBB Tuning begins coilover tests

Posted by on 02 Oct 2008 | Tagged as: Product Updates

We are excited to have our first coilover set for testing installed on our MazdaSpeed3.  The front coilover consists of an inverted strut utilizing a helper spring with a 42mm diameter piston and has an external reservoir with high speed and low speed compression adjustments, as well as rebound adjustment on the bottom of the assembly.  The rear is a standard shock setup with a 46mm diameter piston that, as with the front, have high speed and low speed compression adjustable on the reservoir, while the rebound is adjusted at the top of the shock shaft.  It has an external reservoir built inline with the damper assembly to fit within the provided space allotment.  Ride height is altered via aluminum spring perches that are locked in place with a 6mm stainless steel socket-head capscrew.  On the rear, an adapter was made that will allow the use of standard 2.5″ coilover springs to mate up to our height adjustment system (not pictured).

Construction of the suspension is a combination of zinc-plated steel and anodized aluminum with aluminum spherical-bearing top mounts. We will provide a wide range of spring rates to choose from to fit the needs of various applications. These suspensions are truly a work of art and we are very enthusiastic for their release once our extensive testing is complete.

The currently list of planned applications consists of:
’08+ WRX/STi
’02-’07 WRX/STi
’08+ Nissan R35 GTR
EVO X
MazdaSpeed3

We will be offering the 3-way adjustable setup (pictured) and a more affordable 1-way setup (not pictured) for most applications.  The 1-way setup will be built to the same quality standards as the 3-way and both will be geared toward a comfortable controlled ride on the street while still providing amazing track performance.

COBB Tuning upgrades the GTR turbos

Posted by on 01 Oct 2008 | Tagged as: Product Updates

The testing phases of our upgraded turbos for the Nissan R35 GTR has begun.

GTR Turbo and Manifold

We have upgraded the compressor wheel to be 8.5mm larger than original while the turbine wheel is an impressive 10mm larger than stock. To fit these huge wheels, we have machined the stock turbos and are using custom sleeves and bearings. We are hoping, with help from the COBB Tuning AccessPORT, that we will be able to see power increases in excess of 150 HP with this 44 lb/min. wheel.

GTR Turbo 3

As you can see, the new wheel is much larger than the original.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Stay tuned.
