R35 GT-R – Modified Mag Shootout teaser video

Posted by Trey on 02 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: Events

We can’t post the final results, you’ll have to wait for the magazine to come out first. However, we did put together a quick little video of our GT-R at the event.

In all, the cars were tested in the following events: Dyno, Auto-x, 1/4 mile, and finally Time Attack. Points were awarded for each event, with the final ranking according to how you performed in each event. Overall, it was a great event and the organizers and magazine staff did an awesome job! We hope we can do it again next year!

Mazdaspeed3 – Time Attack video

Posted by Trey on 02 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: Events

Our Mazdaspeed3 recently competed in a NASA Time Trial event at Firebird Raceway in Arizona. This was a unique night event, which presented a unique challenge. Eric Bizek, one of our talented fabricators, was at the wheel in the video you can watch below. He did an excellent job, particularly when you consider he had never been to this track before as well as the fact that he has very little seat time in the Mazdaspeed3. I’m sure over the course of this year, that’ll change! We prefer to use drivers from within the company whenever possible. Not only does it demonstrate the fact that we are all here because it’s what we’re passionate about, it also provides unmeasurable benefit to the quality and effectiveness of the parts we offer because the people designing them are competing with them and obviously what the best possible result. Our hope is that this allows us to produce a better part… oh yeah, and that we have fun doing it! ;)

Congratulations to Eric for a class win! Click on the image below to watch the lap around Firebird in our Mazdaspeed3. (You can thank Eric for the music selection)

Toyo tire ad + COBB EVO X

Posted by Trey on 02 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: General

Coming soon to a magazine near you! We’re really honored to have Toyo using one of our demo cars in their ad campaign for the Toyo Proxes tires. We’ve been nothing but extremely happy with their R888 tires. So much so that ALL of our demo cars that see ANY track use now use them. For those of you that know us, that’s saying a lot. We’re a picky bunch to say the least.

R35 GT-R – Track testing

Posted by Trey on 02 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: Events

Recently we were invited to bring our R35 GT-R out to Arizona for a Modified magazine tuner car shoot-out. In preparation, we took our GT-R out to Miller Motorsport Park for some testing. During the tests, along with several other items currently under wraps, we put our new Coil Over conversion kit through the paces and experimented with many different spring rates and ride heights. Some tire testing was performed as well, though there is still no ideally sized R-compound tire available yet for the GT-R. The car performs well with Toyo R888 tires, but they are still undersized (in overall diameter) to be considered ideal for new R35. Hopefully we’ll have something available for us soon…

Here are a few pictures taken during the event. Make sure to click on them to see them at full resolution. Enjoy!

A quick video we did prior to heading out to Arizona for the Modified magazine Tuner shootout. The part showing the speedometer was to demonstrate the speed limiter has been fully removed. You may notice that we are also not using the stock wheels. Click on the image below to view the video.

R35 GT-R – Coil Over Conversion Kit

Posted by Trey on 02 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: Products

Designed for the original equipment Bilstein dampers on the R35 GT-R, our coil over conversion kit provides ride height adjustment, access to a wide array of spring rates, and rigid upper mounts for precise feedback and control. These can be installed without any permanent modifications to the stock damper assemblies, and allows you to keep the convenience of the stock electronically controlled dampers. This means you can still fully enjoy your R35 at the track on weekends with your dampers in ‘Race’ mode while still enjoying a smooth ride during your commute to work during the week with your dampers in ‘Comfort’ mode.

This setup is still undergoing final testing and refinement, and it expected to be available for purchase in a few months once we’re satisfied with not only our recommended spring rate but also what we consider acceptable min/max spring rates. This will be refined based on several different tire compounds (both S-type and R-type) and different tracks we will be testing at around the country. Price is not set yet, but you can expect it to be more than a simple coil spring kit and much less than a full coil-over suspension kit.

2008 WRX – Catback Exhaust

Posted by Trey on 02 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: Products

Our catback exhaust system is now available for the 2008 WRX (5-door). Fully constructed from high grade 304 Stainless Steel, and TIG welded for amazing fit and finish. Personally, I think it sounds amazing and looks fantastic. Not too flashy as to get unwanted attention, but definitely with more of a performance look than the stock part. You hear that deep boxer exhaust note but it doesn’t start to drone on the highway and more importantly passes the SAE exhaust noise level requirements which means you won’t get any “fix it” tickets!   Click here to visit our website for a full description and more photos of this system installed.

Mazdaspeed3 AccessPORT

Posted by Trey on 02 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: Products

After much anticipation, the AccessPORT is now available for the Mazdaspeed3. Aside from purely a performance standpoint, the tuning provided with the AccessPORT significantly improves driving quality and fuel economy. Reflashing takes just a few minutes and we have dyno tuned maps available for stock cars all the way to full turboback exhaust + intake modifications. In addition, you can view Live Data from sensors all over the engine, measure 1/4 mile and 0-60 mph performance, fuel economy monitoring, read DTCs (check engine lights) and more.

Please visit our website for more info. Below are dyno graphs to illustrate one (but hardly all) of the benefits the AccessPORT provides.
